What is a rune meditation? There are thousands of books written about meditation techniques. But the most important question you must ask yourself is why do you want to meditate? For what reason? What do you want to accomplish?

Life is a series of events that pass upon our consciousness in sequential order. Each event is an energy relationship. When you leave your home in the morning and stop for coffeee ... that is an event. What is happening? You have just placed your self (energy unit) in another energy unit, the coffee shop. There will be an energy exchange and a relationship (third energy) set up because of the meeting. During the day many of these energy events will have very little effect upon you. But some will. Part 2

The Saga of the Jomsvikings relates that the Jomsvikings were highly selective in deciding who to admit to their order. Membership was restricted to men of proven valor between 18 and 50 (with the exception of a boy named Vagn Åkesson, who defeated Sigvaldi Strut-Haraldsson in single combat at the age of 12). In order to gain admission, prospective members were required to prove themselves with a feat of strength, often taking the form of a ritual duel, or holmgang, with a Jomsviking.

Once admitted, the Jomsvikings required adherence to a strict code of conduct in order to instill a sense of military discipline among its members. Any violation of these rules could be punished with immediate expulsion from the order. Each Jomsviking was bound to defend his brothers, as well as to avenge their deaths if necessary. He was forbidden to speak ill of his fellows or to quarrel with them. Blood feuds between members were to be mediated by Jomsviking officers. Jomsvikings were forbidden to show fear or to flee in the face of an enemy of equal or inferior strength, though orderly retreat in the face of vastly outnumbering forces appears to have been acceptable. All spoils of battle were to be equally distributed among the entire brotherhood. No Jomsviking was permitted to be absent from Jomsborg for more than three days without the permission of the brotherhood. No women or children were allowed within the fortress walls, and none were to be taken captive. It is unclear, however, whether members were forbidden marriage or liaisons with women outside the walls.

History of the Jomsvikings

Part 3

There are different accounts for the origins of the order. One version states that the Jomsvikings were founded by the King of Denmark, Harald Bluetooth, after his exile, yet he was probably an old man when his son Sweyn Forkbeard committed hiself to his father's domain. According to this version, he taught seafaring skills to the local Wends, and the Danes with him led aspirants on piratical raids against his enemies to the north. Jomsborg is described in these sources as a largely Wendish town with Norse officers. The Jómsvíkinga saga states that the settlement was entirely Norse, and the brotherhood, was founded by Palnatoke, receiving the location from the mythical Wendish ruler Burislav. Styrbjarnar þáttr Svíakappa, on the other hand, states that among the Norse there were many men from the "East land" arriving at Jomsborg, suggesting that it was a settlement of mixed ethnicity.

Accounts of their size vary. Jomsborg, in various sources, is supposed to have held anywhere from 30 to 300 ships in its harbor, with Jomsviking chieftains including Palnatoke, Styrbjörn the Strong, Sveyn Forkbeard, Sigvaldi Strut-Haraldsson, Thorkell the High, and Hemeng.

Styrbjarnar þáttr Svíakappa and Eyrbyggja saga relate that in the early 980s, Palnetoke lost the fortress and the control of the Jomsvikings to the exiled Swedish prince Styrbjörn the Strong. He allied with the Danish king, Harald, but brought the Jomsvikings to a devastating defeat against Styrbjörn's uncle Eric the Victorious at the Battle of the Fýrisvellir, Uppsala, in 984 or 985, while trying to take the crown of Sweden by force of arms. The fact that the Jomsvikings lost was attributed to a pact that the Swedish king Eric made with Odin. Three runestones, the Högby Runestone (the brave champion Asmund fell on the Fyrisvellir), DR 295 (he did not flee at Uppsala) and DR 279 (he did not flee at Uppsala, but fought as long as he had weapons), from this time relate to deaths with honour at Uppsala, probably three Jomsvikings. The battle is also commemorated, in poetry, by the Icelandic skald Þórvaldr Hjaltason, who took part in the battle on the Swedish side.

What are Runes? I do know. They are keys to the Creative Energies of the Universe. They are small packets of energy inside what the Quantum scientists call the Quantum Ocean. This is what our ancestors called the Mind of God, The Grand Architecht of the Universe, the Cosmic All, the Prime Mover.

We need to update this ancient runic language into 21st century language. We need to update the Runes into practical 21st century uses. I am doing that.

RUNIC ABSTRACTIONS

To understand the thousands of words written about the Runes, we must understand the idea of Runic Abstracting. The concept of Abstraction was first introduced to the world by Lord Alfred Korzybski, a 1940's Polish Mathematician. He was the father and founder of the science of General Semantics.

ODIN THE REDISCOVERER OF THE RUNES

Odin, the All-father of the the Northern pantheon of Gods/Goddesses rediscovered the Runes. He abstracted them from a higher source. He brought them out of the Quantum Ocean.

Lets focus on where Rune Meanings come from. Take this little mental trip with me. Runes are primal creative energies existing in the Quantum Ocean (the Mind of God) They always existed and always will exist. It is one of the laws of Quantum Physics.

Odin hung upside down on the Yagdrasil tree for nine days till he finally opened the doors of the Quantum Ocean. (Mind of God)

He screamed reached in and pulled out first hand knowlege of the runes. This was a second level of abstraction. The first level being the non-verbal Quantum Ocean reality world of the rune energies themselves.

Odin shared what he had found with others. The gods/goddesses of the North. They shared it, on and on and on.

Down through the past 1000 years of modern day Runes we can't count the number of writers who have given us their rune abstractions. (Mine included).

Levels of Abstraction:

First Level Abstraction----- Energy Realm of Quantum Ocean

Second Level Abstraction ----- Odin's rediscovery

Third Level Abstraction----- Gods/Goddesses

Have you ever played the game "telephone" at a party. You sit in a circle and you pass some information around the circle. By the time it gets back to you. WOW is that what you said? I am not trying to discredit any of the marvelous rune writers. I am trying to answer the two main questions that I need answered.

RUNE-THORN-PROTECTION

This runes primary function is to attract waves of protective energies into your life. The main rune-meaning for THORN is PROTECTION AGAINST ATTACKS. RUNE-THORN does not protect you from sword attacks or physical violence. It protects you from mental, psychic and evil attacks upon you and your home. It is a defensive rune.

In the Viking days defense in battle was very important. That is why they used the Shield Circle and marched into battle in a V shaped wedge. Vikings rarely traveled in large armies. Most of the dragon ships contained about 30 warriors or so. So defense was very important for they could ill afford to lose a man in battle. Each ship carried a beserker or two. This was a fierce huge warrior who fought bare chested and alone. He was used to break the formations of the enemy by crashing headlong into them. It has been written (we will discuss it in a later web page) that the beserkers were also shape-changers who could change into a bear or a wolf before they charged. Vikings fought many times against great odds. When they met the Native Americans on this continent they were heavily outnumbered. This is one of the reasons why they did not stay to colonize the Americas. Too many unfriendly Indians who didn't want to share their land.

Milk as another reason why the vikings gave up trying to settle the new land. Ask me about this. It is a wonderful story. We do not go on viking raids anymore (too bad) but it is important in this chaotic fast paced society that we have forms of protection

Once Brunhild appeared it meant his death. The story gos on: one day Odin sent Brunhild to the battlefield to bring back a certain young warrior. She took one look at his handsome young face and could not kill him. She returned empty handed to Odin. He was furious for he needed all the great warriors in his hall for the great coming battle of Ragnarok.

Odin knew he had to punish Brunhild but he didn't want to harm her. He put her to sleep and had her placed on a couch surrounded by thick thorn bushes to protect her from harm while she slept. You all know the rest of the story about the handsome prince who kissed her and woke her.

RUNE-FA-PROSPERITY

Its primary function is to attract mobile wealth, money into your life. The main rune-meaning for RUNE FA is AUROCH. This was a large wild ox that was domesticated by the Vikings. In the Viking days AUROCH'S were considered the measure of wealth. Those who had the most auroch's were considered the wealthiest. Aurochs moved, they were mobile wealth. We do not have aurochs today but we use money, gold, silver, gems as mobile wealth. Land does not count.
